THE 'HOLIDAY AT HOME' FESTIVAL KICK STARTS THE CAMPAIGN FOR 2010...
As a result of the success of Carmarthenshire Tourist Association's campaign in 2008 and 2009, we are once again running 'Carmarthenshire...On your Doorstep' in 2010 in partnership with Carmarthenshire County Council - and with the support of the Carmarthen Journal & Llanelli Star, 97.1 FM Radio Carmarthenshire & 97.5 Scarlet FM and the South West Wales Tourism Partnership
The aim of the campaign is to encourage local people to take advantage of the array of quality attractions, activities, places to eat and shop etc that are on offer here in our county. It provides members of the CTA with a chance to directly promote their business to the important local market during the quieter visitor periods, but also at a time when people are planning their Easter break activities.
THE FESTIVAL
The campaign kicked off at the On your Doorstep - Holiday at Home Festival in Carmarthen town on Saturday 27th February - with a marquee on Guildhall Square, packed full with ideas of places to visit and things to do in Carmarthenshire - as well as food stalls selling and giving away tasters of tasty local produce, cookery demonstrations (featuring Cwmcerrig Farm Shop, the Plough Inn Rhosmaen and Heavenly - finalists in the Best Food Experience category of our 2009 Carmarthenshire Tourism Awards), music and entertainment.
Carmarthen was bustling and made for a fantastic atmosphere at the Festival, with the On your Doorstep marquee and Guildhall Square's Produce Fayre was being busy throughout the day.
MONEY SAVING OFFERS
As part of the campaign, a leaflet has been produced with lots of vouchers which can help you to save money in each of the participating attractions and activity centre (vouchers valid until end June 2010). These can be collected from the Carmarthen Tourist Information Centre on Llamas Street or you can telephone us on 01269 598140 to request to be sent some fo these leaflets. In addition, the CTA and CCC Tourism team will be distributing the leaflets throughout the county at various events throughout March, April and May.
