The Event & Opportunity
The event was identified as a need and was an idea that came from a recent CTA Visitor Attractions Sector meetings - and Carmarthenshire County Council have kindly agreed to support this and help bring it to fruition.
The Jobs Fair will bring tourism business employers together to allow those looking for seasonal or part-time employment to meet with employers looking to fill the crucial roles required to deliver a high-quality visitor experience.
Attendees will get the opportunity to meet with prospective employers, to talk about role expectations, to meet teams and to enable collect any recruitment information. It’s a bit like speed dating for employers and employees – a chance for those thinking of getting some summer work in the tourism industry or looking for part-time work, to understand what is available across the county and to ask all the burning questions they may have before spending time filling in the application form.
For employers, it is the opportunity to showcase and advertise upcoming available positions and to meet with prospective applicants, to try to match the right person effectively to the right role, in advance of any application process.
Jacqui Kedward, General Manager Carmarthenshire National Trust and Chair of the Carmarthenshire Tourism Association explains,“This will be the first time a Tourism Recruitment Fair has been held in Carmarthenshire and it is a great opportunity for all the tourism operators and businesses to engage on a wider level with people who might be looking for seasonal or part-time work. This partnership approach has meant that no matter how large or small your tourism business is, you can reach a wider audience and hopefully recruit the right people for the roles.”

"It's very difficult to find out how our visitors find us on the internet. However, when I analyse my statistics with my hosting company, I find Visit Carmarthenshire in the top 10 of referrals. In a Google search it comes on the top page if you use key words like "Bed and Breakfast in Carmarthen". It's important to have another platform where our business can be found online and it really does work for us!"
"The one to one sessions on improving my website were really valuable. Paul Knows what's what and how I am thinking or struggling immediately! I value his input."
"We really enjoyed the Gold award winner visits. They've given us some great ideas and some real practical help. Strangely, one of the most useful things from the visits is that it's saved us a lot of time researching things that wouldn't be practical for us to try at the mill."
