Our Sector Meetings are reported by members as being as one of the top benefits of CTA Membership. These meetings are free and exclusive to CTA Members - and are small, friendly, relaxed and informal opportunities to discuss relevant topics, share advice and pick up tips from others working in similar businesses. If you've never attended a meeting, then come along to experience why your fellow members find them so useful. And based on member feedback, this next meeting will focus on demystifying the legal and compliance side of providing visitor accommodation...
This time round, based on member requests and feedback - our Accommodation Sector Meeting will focus on exploring some of the legal and compliance side of providing guest accommodation. It will include the law, insurance, common sense practice and how different business respond to their obligations. There will also be signposting to help your business put some of these responsibilities into practice.
What will make this such an unique and helpful session is that it's an informal meeting of local visitor accommodation providers - facilitated by someone who runs their own accommodation business in Carmarthenshire. In an industry where there are so many rules and regulations, and ones which seem to change regularly too – we know that it can be difficult sometimes to keep track of these - and also to know which are actually relevant and necessary for your own particular business.
So this meeting will aim to demystify some of these - giving the chance to share information on the various requirements and sharing realistic guidance on which you need to be aware of and tips on how to easily meet these requirements.
Who Should Attend?
This will be relevant for owners running serviced and self-catering accommodation. For startups and people who have been providing a service for a while and wanting to review their provision.
CTA member, Val Harber of Coedllys Country House will lead this session. Val runs a 5-star B & B and self-catering cottage. She has been doing this for 25 years and is proud of the many awards she has been awarded - including being the Gold Award winner for the Small Serviced Accommodation of the Year category in this year's Carmarthenshire Tourism Awards. Val is an experienced vocational trainer.
Booking is essential and we recommend early booking to secure a place. Either email Lowri Lowri@visitcarmarthenshire.co.uk or telephone 01269 598140 by no later than midday on Tuesday 13th November.
