A very important aim of what we do at Carmarthenshire Tourism Association is to facilitate the opportunity for tourism-related businesses in our county to share information, challenges and good practise. Our very popular sector meetings in particular give a great chance to do this.
About the Accommodation Providers sector meetings: The meetings for this sector in particular have been a great success - with regular meetings attended by a cross section of those offering holiday accommodation in our county, including holiday cottages, bed & breakfasts and hotels.
These relaxed and informal meetings are facilitated by voluntary directors who run businesses within those particular sectors - and focus on those topics suggested and requested by members. The Accommodation sector meeting is kindly led by Mary-Ann Nossent from Pen y Garn Cottage.
If you ever think, "I wonder how other businesses do that..." then these meetings give you a chance to get answers! We're continuously being told by those who go along for this first time that they can't believe how open and honest everyone are being in terms of sharing information - and how they find the sessions invaluable.
So, what do we talk about? Just some of the issues and topics which have been been under the spotlight, over a cuppa, at recent Accommodation Sector meetings include:
- Ways to get more direct business
- The best agencies and marketing consortiums
- Visit Wales quality / star grading
- Business rates revaluation
- How to deal with difficult customers....
Meeting Summary Notes: Actually being at the meetings and being activtely involved in conversations is obviously the best way to make the most of these. However if members are unable to make it to a meeting, summary notes are circulated to members and posted on the CTA Members Login Area of our website.
Next Meeting: The next meeting is being held on Wednesday 7th March and will focus on using distinctive content to enhance your marketing - find out more here
A warm welcome to all: These informal meetings, held every couple of months, are a key membership benefit - and so are complimentary to members of Carmarthenshire Tourism Association. Non-members are also welcomed along to one meeting to give a chance to find out more about these meetings and what else the CTA can offer to support those running businesses in the industry.
Please get in touch if you'd like to find out more!

"It's very difficult to find out how our visitors find us on the internet. However, when I analyse my statistics with my hosting company, I find Visit Carmarthenshire in the top 10 of referrals. In a Google search it comes on the top page if you use key words like "Bed and Breakfast in Carmarthen". It's important to have another platform where our business can be found online and it really does work for us!"
"The one to one sessions on improving my website were really valuable. Paul Knows what's what and how I am thinking or struggling immediately! I value his input."
"We really enjoyed the Gold award winner visits. They've given us some great ideas and some real practical help. Strangely, one of the most useful things from the visits is that it's saved us a lot of time researching things that wouldn't be practical for us to try at the mill."
